Each time I thought I had arrived somewhere — a career, a relationship, a version of myself that made sense — life invited me deeper. Not forward. Deeper.
And it was in those moments of descent that I began to discover the territory that lies beyond the reach of ordinary experience.

New Zealand
I was born in Uganda and raised between the Netherlands and New Zealand. From an early age I found myself interested in the space between different cultures, different ways of seeing, and different ways of understanding what it means to be human.
At nine years old we moved to New Zealand, far away from my Dutch family and roots. Later I returned to the Netherlands. I studied in Amsterdam, built a career, fell in love, built a family and built a life.
From the outside, much of it looked complete. Inside, something kept asking questions that achievement alone couldn’t answer.
Life changed. I experienced loss, grief and the need to begin again — this time, more slowly and with a greater awareness of what really mattered.
Then I sailed, from Amsterdam to New Zealand. There is something about the open ocean that strips everything back to what is essential. The horizon. The wind. The profound, humbling smallness of a human life against something so vast.
And then — New Zealand again. Full circle. Or rather, another spiral. Each return deeper than the last.
The Practice
More than 30 years of
daily practice
For more than 40 years I have maintained a regular practice of meditation, alongside many years of Ashtanga yoga.
These practices have shaped the way I understand attention, awareness, stillness and the relationship between our inner experience and the world around us.
They have also taught me something simple: meaningful change is rarely about forcing ourselves to become someone else. Often it begins with becoming more aware of what is already there.
Silence is not empty. It is the most full thing I know.
A New Chapter
From exploring the mind
to working with it
This long-standing interest in consciousness, awareness and the relationship between mind and body has now led me into a new area of study: hypnotherapy.
I am currently undertaking professional training in Ericksonian hypnotherapy, exploring how therapeutic communication, focused attention, imagination and the unconscious mind can support meaningful change.
What particularly interests me is the relationship between the mind, the nervous system and the body — and how this relationship can influence the way we experience ourselves and the world around us.
I am developing a particular clinical interest in anxiety, stress and the gut-brain connection, including IBS. This is an area I am continuing to study carefully as part of my hypnotherapy training.
The Work
Three expressions of the same inquiry
Hypnotherapy, the podcast and meditation are different ways of exploring the same territory: inner life, awareness and the possibilities that emerge when we look beyond our habitual ways of experiencing ourselves.
Hypnotherapy
A therapeutic exploration of the relationship between consciousness, nervous system and body, grounded in Ericksonian hypnotherapy.

Beyond the practice
I live in New Zealand and remain connected to the Netherlands — two places that feel like home for very different reasons. I am fluent in Dutch and English, and I enjoy working across cultures and perspectives.
I find joy in simple things — walking barefoot on the beach with my dog, good conversations that go somewhere real, and a strong coffee in the early morning before the world wakes up.
My work is grounded in lived experience. I offer a space to explore your own.
